The ways in which Bollywood gave major festive outfit goals: through its movies!
Bollywood movies, undoubtedly, have been our major source of inspiration when it comes to love at first sight to adventurous trip with your gang. While all these plans have been temporarily spoilt in #2020, one thing that can’t be spoiled is your outfit! We look up to these movies for their perfect festive looks, to the verge that we demand the replica of the outfits. (psst, we all have been there!) With the onset of THE FESTIVAL SEASON, we are here to help you find the diva/divo moment by drawing some inspiration from these classic festive scenes from Bollywood films.
(Also, get ready for some major !!!, as we can’t keep calm with these amazing look book, we created from movie scenes.)
1. MOHABBATEIN
Another one from SRK’s hit films banner, Mohabbatein had a song named ‘Pairon Mein bandhan Hai’, which was shot at the backdrop of Diwali. This Diwali song was shot with a star-studded cast and their outfits just stole the show, and we are till date taking outfit inspiration from them!
2. YEH JAWANI HAI DEEWANI
‘Balam Pichkari’ is the only song which doesn’t have people wearing white kurta/lehenga choli on Holi, to just get them wasted, hence super relatable (Holi is the day to discard an old outfit – says every other brown household). This song inspired us to go absolute casual with our style just like Ranbir, Aditya, Deepika and Kalki: just grab your old pair of jeans and a shirt, and off you go!
3. BADRINATH KI DULHANIYA
What if we can’t have the same yellow lehenga for Holi? But the outfit is to be banged on! The looks of Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan can be worn for any festival: be it Diwali or Navratri or Holi (if you feel like). A simple lehenga choli never goes out of style!
4. LOVEYATRI
This movie is based on love story that took place during the nine days of Navratri and that gives us some major outfit ideas for all nine days. And to all the guys looking for the perfect festive outfit, you need to check out Aayush Sharma’s look in the movie. You won’t be able to resist your temptation of stealing his wardrobe! If you’re done with those, Warina’s outfits are goals and not to be missed!!
5. DILWALE
Every ‘90s kids favourite Bollywood Jodi has to Shahrukh Khan and Kajol- from Dilwale Dulhania le Jaayenge to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Imagine the hype of their comeback movie, a revenge + lovestory ‘Dilwale’. While it got mixed review, a big heart to their outfits! Take some major ideas for Christmas outfitand pair’em well.
6. KAHAANI
Absolutely brilliant work of Sujoy Ghosh, Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani was a superhit. Set in Kolkata, Vidya Bagchi’s (character of Vidya Balan) arrival coincides with the onset of the festival of Durga Puja, also serves as a metaphor for Bagchi’s journey in the film. The fierce battle of revenge comes to end on the day of Vijayadashami, and runs in parallel to the idea of strong women the way Maa Durga has been idolised. The plain yet beautiful Laal Par saree, worn by Bagchi in the film, is a must for Puja and especially worn during Sindhur Khel.
This scene fleetingly reminds us of Vidya Balan in her debut Parineeta.
7. VEER ZAARA
VeerZaara is a 2004 Indian Hindi -language period romantic drama, starring Shahrukh Khan and Preity Zinta as star-crossed lovers. While we still well up thinking how beautiful the screenplay was, the Lohri celebration with the song ‘Aa Gayee Lohri’ has Preity Zinta and Shahrukh Khan looking their ethnic best. Don’t miss out Amitabh Bachan-Hema Malini’s look!
The suits Preity Zinta wore throughout the movie are admirable, and can be worn on various occasions, especially the white suit set has our heart.
8. RAEES
The movie is based in Gujarat, and it couldn’t be made without Garba or Uttarayan! The Filmmakers made sure that this celebration could be captured, with the song ‘Udi Udi Jaaye’ played in the background. Again SRK-starrer movie, Mahira Khan has left no stones unturned to match his level, and their outfit is just perfect.
The black set and ivory suit set worn by Mahira in the song ‘Zaalima’are great outfit ideas for Eid celebrations.
