TREND OF THE MONTH: ADDING TOUCH OF FASHION TO DAILY MASKS

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

The real OG accessory lies right beside you: your saviour, your mask! Masks have come a long way, from being just a necessity to a different range of stylish masks available for every outfit. Masks are not a recent development, as they have been very essential even when the Spanish Flu had hit the world in 1918. Even then, a stone wasn’t left unturned to make a fashion statement during the pandemic. Quite the scene in 2020?

From being made out of plastic to being a triple layer fashionable and comfortable apparel, masks are here to stay the right reasons it serves. So, why not make a statement while doing grocery shopping by wearing a couture mask? These masks not only add oomph to your look but also add a funky touch to your otherwise monotonous pair of t-shirts and pyjamas. Pick an outfit and you will find a mask to team it up with. Libas India was quick to add masks in their product line and sell matching ones with their kurta sets. Masks have also found a place in the bridal vanity: bright glittery masks are must-haves for the brides and grooms in 2020.

Several brands, designers and start-ups have come up with a range of masks from solid to printed and embroidered ones. Jumping on the bandwagon is Conde Nast India‘s Vogue + GQ that have joined hands with India’s largest online fashion store, Myntra, for an initiative called ‘Behind The Mask’, a social awareness and fundraiser campaign. This campaign is a giant collaboration with Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Anita Dogre, Rahul Mishra and Gaurav Gupta. These statement masks made with superior quality and quirky designs are definitely an investment worth making. Define your personality in the most subtle manner by pairing it with black jeans, over-sized sweatshirts and coordinated cap, and you are good to go!
